New FLASH publication in JHEP Reports
A FLASH manuscript studying MFAP4 was recently accepted in the new and acknowledged hepatology journal JHEP Reports
Researchers at FLASH have previously identified microfibrillar-associated protein 4 (MFAP4) measured in serum, as a promising diagnostic protein for the detection of liver fibrosis in alcohol-related liver disease. However, until recently, the prognostic potential of MFAP4 measured in the ascitic fluid in patients with decompensated cirrhosis was unknown. The newly accepted FLASH article in JHEP Reports shed new light on this topic. Here MFAP4 measured in the ascitic fluid showed to be a prognostic biomarker of transplant-free survival in patients with cirrhosis and ascites, independent of known prognostic scores such as the MELD score and CLIF-C AD. The study was performed in collaboration with colleagues from Hvidovre Hospital and Universitäts Klinikum Bonn. JHEP Reports is an open access journal. Link to the article: HERE
