B-SHAPES

Dorte Jagetic Andersen

Dorte SDU

Being employed at the Centre for Border Region Studies at the University of Southern Denmark for more than 10 years has given me the chance and the privilege to gain an insight into the everyday life of people living in the European border regions. Through ethnographically informed work in several of the most conflict-ridden European border regions, I have seen things, heard narratives, and been confronted with practices that most people trying to maintain a decent life in times of crisis would be able to learn from. This is my main motivation for taking part in B-SHAPES; to disseminate knowledge and experiences about how borders matter to people in their everyday life and why this makes people in the European border regions more resilient to crisis than most.
