In 2023, POLIMA was founded based on a Centre of Excellence grant from the Danish National Research Foundation to Professor N. Asger Mortensen.
POLIMA performs basic research and focus on exploring and manipulating polaritons in flatland, in engineered meta-surfaces interfacing light-emitting quantum systems or serving as light sources themselves.
POLIMA research areas are the following:
• Probing of electrodynamics in solid-state matter with 2D plasmon polaritons
• Exciton polaritons for strong-coupling and tunable quantum-light sources
• Polariton-driven nonlinear optics
