Yonas Lebsir has been a Ph.D. Research Fellow at POLIMA since September 2023. He received his B.Sc. (2020) and M.Sc. (2023) degrees in physics at the University of Kiel, Germany, and during that time completed research stays at Complutense University Madrid, Spain (2018) and at the Center for Nano Optics at SDU, Denmark (2021).
At POLIMA, he experimentally investigates the optical tunability of transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers using tensile strain. To do this, he assembles heterostructures of 2d materials using polymer assisted transfer techniques, and studies his samples by complementarily using photoluminescence, cathodoluminescence, Raman as well as atomic force microscopy. His supervisors are N. Asger Mortensen and Sergii Morozov.
