About the Exhibition

We are already seeing it in Denmark and globally. Insect-borne diseases are spreading faster. Unbalanced ecosystems lead to more pandemics. Extreme weather conditions, warmer temperatures, and rising sea levels make life difficult for many.

We are destroying nature on land and at sea. Entire areas are becoming uninhabitable or unarable. This means less food, housing, and materials for everyone, both locally and globally. More people are becoming climate refugees than war refugees, says the UN. Many do not move far, but some cross borders, which can create conflicts and spread diseases.

The climate crisis affects our health and diseases, and it puts pressure on the healthcare sector, also in Denmark. The healthcare system of the future must be prepared to tackle these challenges.

About the exhibition

The exhibition is a collaboration between the University of Copenhagen and the University of Southern Denmark. By focusing on health research at the intersection of climate, sustainability, and health, we hope that you will not only see the climate crisis as a resource crisis, but as a disease that affects both the planet's and people's health.

There is a need for more skilled people who understand this new health crisis and can help develop solutions that contribute to sustainability. The combination of health science and sustainability has never been more important.

The exhibition travels around the country

The exhibition will be outdoor, and the 7 portraits of the 8 researchers are set up in 8 exhibition cases that can withstand wind and weather. It is a so-called traveling exhibition, which is first exhibited in Copenhagen, and then will pass by locations under the auspices of SDU for inspiration and knowledge sharing.

The exhibition can first be found at the University of Copenhagen from Friday, April 26, 2024, until the summer break. After the summer break, the 7 busts will be on display at SDU.
