NiNu - Sculpture of Sound

The sculpture consists of 9 units, each 80 cm in diameter and 20 cm in height, resembling metal spheres emerging from the ground. The sculpture features sound elements. In nine different languages, with a one-second interval, the word "now" is emitted. This word almost seems to bounce around between the nine points rising from the grass, emphasizing the fleeting nature of the moment. The sculpture invites physical engagement; one can move around it and experience it with the body, thus also realizing that the sound moves faster than the body can follow. The sculpture was installed in 1993 and Kongens Have would not be the same without it.

Eva Isobel Koch (born 1953) was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. As a sculptor, particularly in the late 1980s and early 1990s, she worked with series of sculptural blocks that encourage dialogue with the work and often incorporate the element of time.
