What research idea lies behind your participation in the Talent Track?
My research spans across the fields of political behaviour, comparative politics, public opinion and democratic representation. I use a broad range of quantitative methods of analysis, including experimental methods, surveys and content analysis. I am also the Principal Investigator of a three-year project on “deliberative referendums”, funded by the Carlsberg Foundation.
How did you become interested in your field of research?
I developed my research interests while studying for my PhD degree at the European University Institute. I then expanded these interests through collaboration with international co-authors.
What research question would you above all like to find the answer to? And why is that?
How do referendums impact support for representative institutions and citizens’ political participation? This question is becoming increasingly relevant, as the frequency of referendums around the world increase.
Which impact do you expect the Talent Track will have on your career and on your research field in general?
I expect my research to increase societal awareness of key pillars of our democratic societies, including voting and representation.
