ECPE Workshop Explores Cutting-Edge Advances in Capacitors for Power Electronics
Last week, from the 22nd to the 23rd of November, 2023, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark hosted the ECPE Hybrid Workshop on Capacitors in Power Electronics.
Among them were representatives from major companies such as Mercedes, Siemens Mobility, Panasonic, Murata, TDK, Kemet, Vitesco, Bosch, and Hitachi Energy.
"The workshop proved to be a platform for in-depth discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking among experts from academia and industry. The insights gained from this event will contribute significantly to the ongoing advancements in capacitor technology, addressing the challenges posed by the evolving landscape of power electronics," Thomas Ebel says and continues:
"The success of this workshop underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in pushing the boundaries of research and innovation in the field of power electronics."
The workshop focused on the latest developments in capacitor device technology, particularly in power electronics. Traditionally, power electronics research has emphasised active devices, such as power semiconductors, and the integration of control, protection, and driving circuits.
However, with significant progress in these areas, attention has shifted towards further miniaturisation and increased power conversion efficiency expected from passive components.
