Project Description
The PowerGridOptimiser project will optimize underground power grids utilisation and investments with a profound positive impact on the environment.
Underground power grids, while crucial for supporting sustainable energy transition, face unresolved challenges that require significant investment. This project addresses these challenges through a combination of a new analytics software and a patented ReMoni clamp-on sensor technology.
The PowerGridOptimiser improves Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of power distribution grids and targets the climate, environmental and financial problems of:
A) Tackling the massive 600 billion kWh energy loss, equivalent to 285 billion kg CO2-eq/year.
B) Mitigating the 97.5 billion € costs of cable replacements, responsible for 19.2 billion kg CO2-eq/year .
The solution will utilise a clamp-on sensor network to create a digital twin of the underground power grid, enabling predictive maintenance, identification and removal of losses in the grid, and better utilisation of the grid.
