Niels Gorm Maly Rytter
Niels Gorm Maly Rytter, PhD, is Section Head for Engineering Operations Management at Department of Technology and Innovation, SDU. Niels works as an academic, section head, project leader, business entrepreneur, consultant, speaker and trainer with an expertise in operations and supply chain management. His work focuses on the future strategies, technology, sustainability and business challenges of companies within the global shipping and logistics, manufacturing and renewable energy (Power-to-X) industries. He is currently leading a portfolio of DK and international R&D projects aiming at making the maritime and renewable energy industries more digital, efficient and sustainable. He has significant experience shaping, funding and leading technology innovation and business development projects in close collaboration with industry partners creating industrial value and scientific outputs. He has worked together with +20 ship operators, ports, technology vendors, associations etc. in the maritime industry and an equivalent set of partners in the renewable energy and manufacturing industries. His industrial job experience stems from being a partner in 2 start ups, a career in Maersk and a family owned Manufacturing business from where he has board member experience

Yohanes Kristianto Nugruho
Yohanes Kristianto Nugroho, PhD, is an Associate Professor for Engineering Operations Management at Department of Technology and Innovation, SDU. Yohanes works as an academic, project researcher, with an expertise in process system engineering, operations and supply chain management. His work focuses on the chemical process industries supply chain analysis, digital solution for process industries supply chain, techno-economic and life cycle assessment of process industries supply chain, focusing on Power-to-X and renewable energy supply chain. He is currently working on digitalization of Power-to-X supply chain operation that utilize Power-to-X to produce fuels such as ammonia and methanol. He has industrial experiences in petrochemical plant operations and control, lead acid battery manufacturing operations, food industry quality assurance and control.

Ali Khosravi
Ali Khosravi is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Energy and Sustainability from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, specializing in energy system modeling. Prior to joining SDU, he spent four years as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Aalto University, Finland, where his work centered on system-level solutions to support Finland’s transition to sustainable energy.
Ali’s research portfolio emphasizes Power-to-X (PtX) technologies, carbon-neutral energy systems, and the integration of artificial intelligence for energy system modeling and optimization. His work on Power-to-X spans the development and optimization of systems that convert renewable electricity into other energy carriers like hydrogen and synthetic fuels, with a focus on enhancing sector coupling. He has contributed significantly to modeling the Nord Pool power market to evaluate the impact of energy transitions across Nordic-Baltic countries.

Melika Sadat Taslimi
Melika Taslimi is a PhD candidate at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), within the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. She completed her Master’s degree in Energy Systems from the University of Tehran, Iran, with a focus on energy system simulation and optimization. Currently, her research explores sector coupling and power-to-X applications, under the thesis title: “Development of an Advanced Software for Sector Coupling, Optimizing the Integration of Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen Production.”
Melika's research expertise includes energy systems simulation, optimization model development, and techno-economic analysis. She has worked extensively on off-grid renewable energy system optimization, leveraging abundant solar radiation in desert climates and wind resources in high-wind regions. In her work on Power-to-X, she focuses on modeling and optimizing green e-fuel production systems, including hydrogen and synthetic fuels, with a strong emphasis on improving sector coupling to advance sustainable energy transitions.

Tim van Erp
Tim is a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Manufacturing and Design at Flinders University in South Australia. While working in various positions in academia and industry across Europe, he gained over 10 years of manufacturing experience. Tim has a background in industrial engineering and obtained his PhD from Technische Universität Berlin. His research centres around designing and managing complex manufacturing systems, with a particular emphasis on current global trends such as sustainability or digitalization.

Alex Wawryk
Dr Alex Wawryk is a senior lecturer at the Adelaide Law School, where she teaches Environmental Law, Mining and Energy Law, The Biodiversity and Regional Australia Study Tour,, Aboriginal Peoples and the Law, and Contract Law. Her research focuses on statutory frameworks and regulation in the fields of environmental law, mining law, renewable energy law and petroleum law. Alex is the Director of the Law School’s Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Law Research Unit; an associate editor for OGEL, a specialist on-line database for Oil, Gas and Energy Law; a member of the Energy Law & Resources Association; and formerly the Editor of the Australian Resources and Energy Law Journal. She is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia.

Paul Medwell
Dr Paul Medwell is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Adelaide. He has over twenty years of experience in a broad range of activities related to energy systems. His technical research is particularly focussed on advancing fundamental understanding of combustion systems, with a view to increasing efficiency and improving fuel flexibility. Beyond combustion, Dr Medwell's research interests include fluid mechanics and energy utilisation more broadly. He has published over 200 scientific articles, and regularly presents his findings to international audiences. In addition to his research work, Dr Medwell serves as an engineering consultant to industry and is an active contributor to the development of standards at national and international level.

Nicholas Mumford
Nicholas Mumford is Managing Director of Mumford Commercial Consulting (MC2), a specialist consulting firm established in 2015 that provides expert commercial advice to businesses in the energy and resources sector throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia. MC2 develop and execute key strategic business development and growth opportunities for clients and provide expert independent and bespoke commercial advice, including negotiating strategically significant transactions throughout the value chain on behalf of clients.
Nicholas is passionate about developing the hydrogen economy in South Australia and a co-founder of South Australian Hydrogen Hubs Inc. (SA-H2H™) – Hydrogen Technology Cluster. He is also a former Councillor of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME), a fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy, and a Director of Greenhill Energy. Nicholas’ energy and resources career spans more than 25 years and includes international postings with Shell and management positions locally with Santos. Nicholas is a geophysicist by university training but has primarily held commercially focussed business development roles over the last two decades.

Ronnie Dalsgaard
Ronnie Dalsgaard is a Sector Expert within Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark based at the office in Sydney. Ronnie has more than 12 years of experience from the hydrogen sector, he started his career at Topsoe where he through various roles worked with their technologies to produce ammonia, methanol and hydrogen. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ronnie is bringing in experience from Denmark to support the green hydrogen and green energy sector in Australian as well as supporting a stronger collaboration between Australia and Denmark.

Sam Crafter
Chief Executive Officer, Office of Hydrogen Power SA. Sam Crafter’s extensive career, with a focus on the energy and resources industries has spanned project implementation, commercial advisory, public affairs, communications and reputation management in both the public and private sector, over more than 20 years.
In early 2022, Sam was appointed Chief Executive Officer for the Office of Hydrogen Power SA to assemble and lead a high performing team to procure, build and operate a Hydrogen Power Plant at Whyalla, to be operational by 2025. Delivering the hydrogen fuelled power generation and associated production and storage facilities in the Upper Spencer Gulf Region, is the objective of the office.
Immediately prior to his appointment Sam was a Director at Woods Street Partners, a strategic commercial and project delivery advisory business which he co-founded, working with clients across the energy and resources sector, as well as other industries.
During his previous state government appointment, as Executive Director, Energy Implementation, Sam led a high performing team that managed the design and implementation of key South Australian Government energy initiatives, including the world’s largest battery (Hornsdale Power Reserve), the $100m Home Battery Scheme, the $50m Grid Scale Storage Fund and South Australia’s Virtual Power Plant using public housing stock.
Sam also spent seven years with Santos Ltd in various senior roles in public affairs, policy, community and government relations in Adelaide, Brisbane and Gunnedah, NSW (New South Wales). Prior to this Sam spent eight years working in State and Federal Government.
