An investigation of citizens’ social media communication network

The project aims to investigate the social media communication network among a group of citizens. The project will be carried out in collaboration with Fyens Stiftstidende and a group of the news paper’s readers. In the modern-day media landscape, it is important to find out what kind of information citizens get via their social media network. Knowing that, the project investigates the citizens’ reaction to the information and how the information is shared between them and their network contacts. The project wants to examine how strong the effect of the network is, compared to the citizens’ expressed information preferences. From a researcher’s point of view, the project is relevant as it provides a unique insight into what kind of news the citizens receive, as it generates data which is usually hard to access.
