Project 3: Hello doctor are you there?

This project seeks to investigate whether the daily lives of patients’ can be facilitated through the use of digital communication with doctors and other healthcare professionals. The project investigates the knowledge and readiness of elderly people to replace the traditional face-to-face medical consultation with a so-called audio-visual conversation via a small laptop ('tablet' or 'iPad') that the patient can use in his own home. The project will therefore, investigate whether physical attendance can be replaced or supplemented by digital conversations. In addition, the project will explore how hospital staff, patients and relatives experience the digital conversations. This knowledge could be used to organize the future hospital services which will be reduced in the total number of hospital beds by at least 20% within the next few years. This will happen while more elderly people are admitted to the hospital.
