The research program is based on the premises that mind and body interact to influence susceptibility to disease and its course, and that patient centeredness is key to optimize the management and care of patients with somatic disease.
The overall mission of INSIDE is to contribute to enhancing the management and care of patients with somatic disease through interdisciplinary research. The examples below reflect what INSIDE does:
- Examines the role of psychological factors in the onset, treatment and progression of particularly cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
- Develops and evaluates the efficacy of psychological and behavioral interventions to promote and enhance psychological and somatic health.
- Designs and tests interactive e-health platforms to empower patients and improve patient outcomes.
- Investigates patients’ needs and preferences with respect to information and treatment.
