The PhD School Secretariat, which is part of the unit Personnel & Finance, supports the Head of PhD School, PhD committee and subject committee in the work with quality assurance and development of the PhD programme.
In addition, the secretariat is of course available for help and guidance during your PhD education regarding, for example, courses, leave of absence, evaluations, environmental changes, cooperation agreements, change of supervisor application for an exemption, formalities for submitting the thesis assessment committees etc.
The secretariat supervises both potential and current PhD students.
As part of your PhD programme, in addition to submitting the PhD thesis you must spend a study period at other research institutions outside SDU, gain experience with knowledge dissemination, e.g. in the form of teaching, and follow courses. Among other things, the secretariat takes care of formalities and approval of these courses. During the programme, you will also have to submit evaluations of the progress of your PhD project to the PhD School.
As you approach the end of your studies, the secretariat will take care of case administration in connection with your PhD thesis – including guidance on formalities, appointing assessment committees, receiving of thesis, distributing the PhD thesis and issuing your PhD certificate.
The secretariat is therefore with you all the way during your PhD programme and ensures the rules regarding your programme are followed.
