Photonics West 2023

Two POLIMA PhD students in San Fransisco

Two POLIMA PhD students, Mikkel Have Eriksen and Theis Pilegaard Rasmussen participated in the  SPIE Photonics West together with Professor N. Asger Mortensen. The conference took place in San Fransisco, US and more 22,000 attended. Both Mikkel Have Eriksen and Theis Pilegaard Rasmussen gave oral presentations.

Mikkel Have Eriksen gave his talk on "Optoelectronic Control of Atomic Bistability with Graphene" following a recently published article in Physical Review Letters. Here, an optically-driven atom-graphene system exhibiting bistability is investigated as a platform for active control over quantum optical systems for explorations in coherent quantum control and atomic physics.

Theis Pilegaard Rasmussen presented his recently published paper in the Nanoscale journal with the title "Nonlocal and cascaded effect in nonlinear graphene Plasmonics", where he has performed a theoretical investigation of nonlinear optics in graphene heterostructures made of closely spaced graphene ribbons, underlining the important effect of cascaded third-harmonic generation in cases of asymmetric systems.
