Tim McRae - new Assistant Professor in DHFE section
Welcome to Tim, who started as Assistant Professor in the DHFE section on 1 January
Tim McRae completed his B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (2013) and PhD (2018) in Power Electronics (2018) at the University of Toronto in the Laboratory for Power Management and Integrated Switch Mode Power Supplies under the supervision of Prof. Aleksandar Prodic. His research has focused on hybrid power converters, switch capacitor converters, and optimization for low power applications, along with digital and mixed-signal control of switch mode power supplies. Between 2018 and 2020, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Toronto, developing new converter topologies for battery charging and LED lighting.
In 2022 Tim joined the University of Southern Denmark as an Assistant Professor at the CIE specializing in power electronics. In January 2024 Tim joined the Centre for Digital and High-Frequency Electronics. His current research targets power management for low power electronic systems, combining novel circuit topologies with digital and mixed-signal control and system-level optimization to develop high-efficiency, low-volume power management architectures for mobile applications and integrated circuits.
