Over the last three decades, previously integrated systems of production and service delivery have been through a process of fragmentation and outsourcing.
This has not only had adverse implications on the growth of small and medium sized companies and the use of contingent or non-permanent labour (e.g. self-employment or temporary employment), but also for the health and safety of workers. The objective of the Lift-OSH project is to investigate policies, strategies, programmes and practices relevant to improve occupational safety and health (OSH) in EU workplaces through supply chain relations in the construction and agri-food industry.
The project will serve to identify key success factors and describe best practice examples that contribute to a better working environment at workplace level, while at the same time stimulates a process of mutual knowledge sharing between EU member states. Lift-OSH is carried out by PI Peter Hasle, in collaboration with a project team with researchers from Denmark, Estonia, Belgium, Ireland and Spain. The project is financed by the European Agency for Safety & Health at Work (EU-OSHA).
