A central research issue in innovation is to understand how this emerges through a complex and multidimensional confluence of actors, technology, and socio-cultural dynamics, as well as how cultural expectations can drive or hinder innovation.
In the context of Industry 4.0, this means trying to understand how the notion of such an industry affects the innovation potential in the field, and how adapting to a rapidly moving technological nexus creates both innovation opportunities and dead ends.
This also includes ethical considerations regarding the potential of technology as well as it’s possible externalities.
