Autonomous agricultural robotics

Agricultural robot on a crop field and an agricultural drone flying over a field.

The development of aerial- and ground-based robotic farming systems as a research area, with an aim for small, sustainable, fully autonomous robots that can contribute both to outdoor plant-based food production and management of outdoor livestock.

Target capabilities include effectively surveying, monitoring, cultivating and harvesting crops with minimal human intervention; monitoring and managing biodiversity in future cropping systems; and monitoring and herding of outdoor livestock in natural environments.
