Autonomous Drone Applications Contributing to a Sustainable Development

Drone flying at Hans Christian Andersen Airport

The research focuses on enabling autonomous drone applications that contribute to and promote a sustainable development. At the current level of drone technology readiness, the main research goal is to facilitate a safe integration of autonomous drone applications with crewed aviation and with the environment in which the drone operates.

Focus areas

  • Experimental development of embedded systems and software for drone mission control
  • Failsafe systems
  • Wireless communication infrastructure
  • High precision GNSS positioning
  • Detect and avoid systems.

Current main applications are autonomous drones for environmental monitoring and preservation and for healthcare and emergency management.
