Department of Clinical Research appoints new professor specializing in digital solutions for decision-making processes
Pernille Just Vinholt has been appointed professor at the Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital. The professorship is in clinical biochemistry with a focus on decision support and artificial intelligence.

She points out that the amount of data in healthcare is constantly increasing, and this requires innovation of new digital solutions to process the large amount of information and thereby ensure timely and correct treatment of patients.
Pernille Just Vinholt emphasizes both developing new digital solutions and improving their usability by taking into account the user's perspective and the solutions' impact on clinical practice. Her approach is particularly relevant in clinical biochemistry, as the specialty plays a central role in diagnosis and thus affects most patient pathways.
Pernille Just Vinholt lives with her family in Odense, but was born and raised in Vejen, Denmark. She studied medicine at the University of Southern Denmark and became a specialist in clinical biochemistry in 2017. She has extensive experience as a medical specialist and in clinical research, as well as a special interest in innovation. She also has a master's degree in Project and Innovation Management, which will be brought into play in relation to the professorship.
