You are the Key to Growth

“Congratulations!” said the Dean Per Michael Johansen in his principal speech: “You did it and stormed across the finish line. You have given yourselves completely when the project deadline had to be reached, you have engaged in teamwork with fellow students, and you have been sweating over books when the professional challenges had to be addressed. It is an impressive achievement that you can be justly proud of,” he said.

The key to growth
Per Michael Johansen stressed that engineers play an important role in solving society’s future challenges:

“When the sages and suchlike point to a viable way of out the crisis, the engineers are always designated as pathfinders and as part of the key to growth. You will help to support politicians’ initiatives towards a growing community – whether it comes to green technology, robotics, biotech or production.”

The Dean did not fall on deaf ears. The new expectant engineers are ready to meet the challenge. One of those, who are looking forward to get out and use all that she has learned over the past five years, is Pernille Hovmand Petersen (pictured):

“Right now, I am searching for a lot of jobs. I would like to work with project management in innovation and new product development. I have, among others, applied for a position at Oticon, which I very much hope to get,” says Pernille Hovmand Petersen, who is among the first Master of Science in Product Development and Innovation.

Various opportunities
One of the new Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, Stine Juul, is also looking forward to getting out into the corporate world and show what she can do:

“I have just completed my project in Environmental and Energy Management, which is an area I would like to continue working with, “says Stine Juul. Originally, she was trained as a medical laboratory technician, but chose to study engineering, because she wanted to work more independently and with a focus on problem solving.

“During my time of study, we have done everything, ranging from clogged pipes at Maersk to developing hair colour – and this width gives a lot of opportunities. At the same time, it has been very exciting to solve problems in an innovative way, “says Stine Juul.

Create your dream career
Master of Science in Robotics, Mathies Glasdam held the graduate speech in which he both praised the study environment, the unity and good relations between lecturers and students.

Simultaneously, he took the opportunity to focus on the future’s many possibilities:

“Now we have got our engineering diplomas – and what next? Now, it is over with student discounts, three months summer holidays and SU. On the other hand, we have got a ticket to the land of opportunity. I hope you will use it as a ticket to the real world without limits. Create the career you have dreamed of,” encouraged Mathies Glasdam.

44 Masters of Science in Engineering, 18 Bachelors of Engineering and 13 technical diploma graduates graduated 29 June 2013 at the Faculty of Engineering in Odense.
