Rovers are an excellent platform that can be designed for an array of specialized purposes. Rovers can go into terrain that is harmful for humans and perform tasks, but the platform can also be used for different sensors and testing how they work together.
Plan
The plan for the current rover is using the different optical cameras and sensors onboard to track the rover’s placement, while being fully remotecontrolled.
The sensors are being tested for any kinks that need working out before being onboard a satellite. In the future the plan is to have a larger rover that is able to go into more challenging terrain and help with scientific surveys.
Target
The target/goal for the GalaxyRover project is to have students design, build, and control a fully remote-controlled rover, that is able to go off-terrain
and complete small tasks for scientific projects.
