Ph.D. and Post.Doc. projects are the main research activities in FAME. We have however observed that the FAME network and Ph.D. courses and workshops have induced even more research ideas and connections between researchers than captured by the list of Ph.D. and Post.doc. projects.

In general, the research approach in FAME is based on three principles. We accept that the research area fisheries economics and management is embodied in the much broader areas environmental and resource economics and management and ecological economics. Second we see fisheries issues as part of the marine environment and finally we belive that many marine management questions including fisheries has to be adressed using an integrated biological and economical approach.
