Horizon Europe grant for Centre for Quantum Mathematics
The Centre for Quantum Mathematics has received a €3 million grant from the EU Horizon Europe programme for the project “Scalable Continuous Variable Cluster State Quantum Technologies” (CLUSTEC) together Europe’s leading hardware research teams in this field.
Quantum computers will eventually be able to dramatically outpace conventional classical computers as fare as computational power is concerned. When this happens, quantum computing will undoubtedly revolutionise society and enable significant breakthroughs in fields such as pharmaceuticals, materials design, defence, finance, energy, and engineering.
”I am very pleased that the various research environments in Europe within quantum technology are starting to work more and more across the classical research disciplines. There is huge potential here.
It requires advanced quantum mathematics to develop quantum software designed for the various quantum hardware platforms, and the aim of the CLUSTEC research project is precisely to open a new path for, among other things, scalable quantum computers.
Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen, Professor and Head of the Centre for Quantum Mathematics, states:
– This collaboration with DTU and several leading institutions in Europe is in perfect harmony with the ongoing large 6-year EU project at SDU – “Recursive and Exact New Quantum Theory”. The research results from that project are now being developed in a more applied direction in this exciting new research project.
– I am very pleased that the various research environments in Europe within quantum technology are starting to work more and more across the classical research disciplines. There is huge potential here, adds Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen.
The Centre for Quantum Mathematics’ participation in the CLUSTEC project is part of an international collaboration with:
- Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz
- Sorbonne Université
- Heidelberg University
- Palacky University Olomouc
- The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS)
- Q.ANT GmbH
- Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) and
- The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), which is the project coordinator.
The Horizon Europe programme
Horizon Europe is the EU's framework programme for research and innovation for the years 2021-27. The programme supports free research, researcher mobility, strategic research, and innovation, with a focus on interdisciplinary solutions and international cooperation. Missions and partnerships are new features of Horizon Europe.
