Den Lyse Idé 2024 Runner-Up Award Fuels Innovation in Self-Recharging Drones
At the Digital Tech Summit in Copenhagen, a team from the University of Southern Denmark was awarded DKK 50,000 for their groundbreaking concept of self-recharging drones tailored for the energy sector.
On Wednesday, October 30, the Otto Mønsted Foundation proudly announced the winners of the Den Lyse Idé 2024 award at the Startup Scene during the Digital Tech Summit, the largest deep-tech fair in the Nordics, held at Øksnehallen in Copenhagen.
This year marked the sixth time the foundation has recognized talented researchers and entrepreneurs, distributing a total prize amount of DKK 550,000. Understanding that it can be challenging for young innovators to secure funding while developing their ideas, the foundation has been providing financial support to help promising projects advance and benefit both society and Danish businesses.
This year, the jury decided to give a special runner-up prize of DKK 50,000 to a team working on an exciting idea for self-recharging drones. Nicolaj Haarhøj Malle accepted the award on behalf of his team members—Frederik Falk Nyboe, Viet Duong Hoang, Thor Kamp Opstrup, Anders Schack Madsen, and Emad Ebeid—from the Digital and High Frequency Electronics, University of Southern Denmark.
In a world where drone services are rapidly expanding, the team's innovative concept for drones designed to assist in the energy sector stands out as a significant advancement. The jury was particularly impressed by their idea of creating drones that can recharge themselves while working on energy-related tasks. The promising business potential of their project led to the decision to award them this runner-up prize. In addition to the cash prize, they also earned five mentoring sessions with entrepreneur Karina Bergstrøm Larsen, co-founder of SatCom1, providing them with valuable guidance as they develop their idea further.
