New Ph.D. project is to help organizations limit the risk of injury
Every year organizations spend millions on preventive measures such as burglar alarms and waterproofing, which limits the risk of damage - but does it have the desired effect?
In a new 3-year Ph.D. project called "A financial perspective on risk management in the insurance industry", Simon Sølvsten investigates which methods are most effective at preventing injuries for organizations. It can be difficult for organizations to choose which method that are the most effective for preventing damage and ultimately creates the most value.
By clarifying the financial value of Risk Management, he wants to give organizations a more qualified basis for decision-making when it comes to prioritizing between different prevention initiatives - and at the same time provide the right tools to create a balance between effort and risk.
Behind the project
The research project is conducted by Simon Silverstone at the Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economics at the University of Southern Denmark in Esbjerg with Professor Brooks Kaiser as principal advisor. The project is a collaboration project with Willis Towers Watson.

Meet the researcher
The research project is led by Simon Silverstone, who works as a Practice Leader at Willis Towers Watson. Simon Sølvsten has a longer education series behind him, starting with a education as an electrician, which he supplemented with an HD in organization and management as well as a master's degree in Management from the University of Southern Denmark.
