If you plan on using personal data in your thesis, you have to comply with the legislation (GDPR and Danish law on data protection). On this page we have some information on what that entails. Please make use of that information, such that you can protect your respondents, yourself and SDU from data security violations.
This page is for you, if you are about to embark on your thesis and your supervisor is employed at the Department of Public Health. Please note, that other departments may have other rules, so speak to your supervisor if they are not affiliated with IST (Department of Public Health).
GDPR for students (slides)
The slides are presented in this video
We have arranged workshops for future masters thesis students where we will assist with GDPR, Nextcloud and secure server. The workshops are for students with supervisor at IST ONLY. We offer the workshops as an assistance for students embarking on their thesis. They are not lectures and there will be no online participation.
The workshops will be held:
Tuesday, 26/11-2024 10-12, in room Cambridge, SDU Odense
Monday, 20/1-2025 10-12, room Cambridge, SDU Odense
Tuesday, 4/2-2025 11-13, TBA venue, SDU Esbjerg
The Faculty of Health Sciences has a site with information about GDPR for students - only in Danish though.
As a Masters student at IST, we expect you to complete the GDPR course for students. You will find the course at It's Learning, where you can search it by the name 'Course on data protection for students at SDU' - find any course under the health faculty. If you are prompted for a registration key, it is EN-Health.
You may download the Mini Data Management Plan here, and should you need a template for giving consent please contact Marie Kruse.
You can use the secure server at SDU for your data, if your supervisor is at IST. Make sure to complete the DMP and the affiliation agreement (send this to Marie Kruse), and to apply to SDU-RIO (the legal office at SDU) for approval:
