ITI graduates awarded with the Inspiration Prize 2020
A good idea about developing a sustainable sanitary towel resulted in three students, two of which are ITI graduates, have been awarded the Inspiration Prize 2020
Two newly qualified bachelors of engineering in Integrated Design, Frederikke Dahl and Emilie Søby, and Simone Westergaard, who studies Sports and Health, are the recipients of the Inspiration Prize 2020 for their idea of a sustainable sanitary towel in their startup; Mewalii.
The sanitary towel is made from plant fibers and is just as absorbent as existing sanitary towels. It does not contain any plastic or cottons and can be produced with much less water consumption.
The project there supports several Sustainable Development Goals, as it solves health and well-being challenges for women; rethinks climate solutions in otherwise fully integrated parts of our everyday lives and at the same time shows how different professional competences meet and support each other to make a project come true.
