Organic light-emitting devices and photodetectors
Fabrication and characterisation of organic and hybrid thin-film devices.
Keywords and applications
Keywords
Organic LEDs and photodetectors; organic transistors; thin-film devices
Applications
Display technology; signage; lighting; IR and visible ligt sensors
Profile
- Fabrication of organic and hybrid thin-film devices typically based on vacuum evaporated thin-films, but also some experience with solution-processed thin-films (spin-coating, slot-die coating). Deposition of inorganic thin-films by vacuum evaporation or sputtering for use either as electrodes/interlayers in organic thin-film devices or for use as, e.g., optical filtres.
- Characterisation of thin-film materials by scanning probe microscopy, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, ellipsometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, absorption spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction.
- Characterisation of thin-film devices by electrical transport measurements (diode or transistor characteristics), luminance (device efficiency) measurements, electroluminescence spectroscopy, spectrally resolved photodetector responsivity measurements.
Services
Consultancy, development and fabrication of organic LED or photodetector prototype devices, characterisation of thin-film materials and thin-film devices.
Equipment
Thin-film vacuum deposition systems for evaporation or sputtering of various types of materials incl. cluster deposition system with nitrogen glove box for handling under inert atmosphere, UV and electron beam lithography, probe station with electrical characterisation set-up and controlled illumination for photodetector responsivity measurements, luminance metre and various types of microscopes for thin-film characterisation.
