Admission without a qualifying examination

In order to be admitted to an education programme, you must, as a rule, have passed a qualifying examination.
See SDU’s list of qualifying examinations.

However, if you do not have a qualifying examination, you have the opportunity to apply for admission on other grounds. This presupposes that you can document qualifications that can be equated to an upper secondary level exam.

Please note that you must still meet the specific admission requirements for the programme.

Who can apply for admission on other grounds?

You can apply for admission on other grounds if you have a further education or several relevant educations of a certain theoretical scope and level.

Relevant programmes may, for example, include a professional bachelor’s degree programme or a vocational education, for which you must be able to document major written assignments or similar written projects at upper secondary level.

Major written assignments include, among others, a bachelor project, an SSO paper (major mandatory written assignment at upper secondary level) or the like.

Apply for admission on other grounds no later than 15 March at 12.00 noon

To apply for admission on other grounds, you must:
  1. Fill out SDU’s applicattion form for exemption
  2. Submit your application for admission and upload relevant documents at www.optagelse.dk

Along with your application at www.optagelse.dk you need to upload:

  • CV
  • Proof that you meet the specific admission requirements
  • Proof of major written assignments
  • Proof of any qualifications that can be equated to a qualifying examination.

Getting a reply

You will receive a reply to your application in SDU’s self-service solution, optag.sdu.dk.

Initially, you will only receive an answer as to whether you are qualified for admission on other grounds. If so, your application for admission will be treated on an equal footing with other applications.
