This 30 ECTS research program is for one semester with start either February 1 or September 1.
Preferred student profile
Master student within the fields of Architecture, Engineering and Design.
Background and interest in computational/digital design, non-standard building systems, robotics, digital manufacturing, materials and complex structures is preferable, but not mandatory.

Description
Join the group to develop research projects that examine emerging material solutions, push the boundaries of digital tools, investigate automation for construction in redefining the architecture practice and building industry.
The program is a designed platform to motivate critical thinking merging various interconnected fields of architecture, engineering, and construction in a rigorous and creative design/build studio environment. Learn in laboratory environment and collaborate to develop large scale prototypes with state-of-art machinery and industrial collaborations.
The aim of the program is to develop research topics focused around advanced digital design, building systems, materials and structure and Digital Fabrication within a design-build agenda. The intention from this approach is applying the accumulated knowledge in generating large scale prototypes that support developing construction and manufacturing industries. The participating students will be engaged in an innovative environment, participate in the dialogue with state-of-the-art industry, and be involved in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Students will be working in groups to develop challenging design/research projects that can be either a specific module of ongoing research projects, or be extension of an earlier project of promising results, or an independent project aimed at opening a new research area of high potential.
Research projects are highly interdisciplinary and integrative. The projects aim at evolving architectural technology and design culture, promoting the symbiosis of design and material, software and hardware developments, performance and aesthetics, fabrication and assembly.
According to the assigned topic, applicants will build a tailored program with their supervisor, which may involve attending seminars and workshops, in order to reinforce specific skills and aspects of their competences.
