Make your mark on the community and city images

Do you want to help decide what Denmark should look like in the future? Then a BEng in Civil Engineering may be something for you.
As a civil engineer, you will develop, plan, design and manage projects when bridges, harbours, factories, or detached houses are to be built. As a civil engineer, you can also be responsible for projects such as climate adaptation, wastewater treatment plants, the establishment of traffic facilities or technical installations.

What will I learn?

On the programme, you combine engineering skills with construction technical knowledge, which gives you the competencies to enter professional and interdisciplinary collaborations, plan and implement construction and civil engineering projects and at the same time be able to consider societal, economic, and environmental and work environment consequences.

The programme will provide you with knowledge about the Planning Act and the building regulations that must be used when working with the development of residential areas. You will gain an insight into the collaboration between different professional groups who work together in connection with the building and construction process. In the project work, you will work in practice with building and construction structures, installations, planning and calculation, which are included in the design of building and construction projects.

How is the programme structured?

During the programme, you will work a lot in project groups, where you and your fellow students will solve problems for companies through case-based work.
The courses in the first years of the programme will provide you with solid professional knowledge, which you can build on throughout the programme. In the 4th and 5th semesters, you can specialise in one of the following topics: Building constructions, indoor climate, energy and environment, roads and construction structures, climate adaptation and drainage technology, construction management or planning and finance. You also have the opportunity to study a semester abroad. In the 6th semester, you will have a mandatory internship in a company. The internship can be spent in Denmark or abroad. In the 7th and final semester, you will prepare a graduation project - often in collaboration with a company.

Can I continue my studies?

A BEng is an independent, completed programme. So, after the 3½ years, you are a graduate engineer and can come out and work as an engineer.
If you want to immerse yourself further, you can continue your studies and take a MSc in Civil Engineering.

What can I become?

A BEng in Civil Engineering provides you with several career opportunities - both in Denmark and abroad. You can work in planning, quality assurance, design and execution of building and construction projects in a technical administration, in a consulting engineering company or a construction company. You can, for example, work with building environmentally friendly houses, roads, bridges, harbours or with rain and wastewater management.
