SDU Kolding
An unexpected path
Maxim Pascali, 23, Moldova, web communication design
I was at a festival in Moldova where I met someone who was going to study in Denmark—which isn’t the most popular choice in Moldova.
It’s great here; you don’t have to pay anything to study. I had dreamed of studying abroad, so I started looking into Denmark as a destination. My family thought it was a bit of a surprising choice, but once they investigated it, they saw that the conditions here are very good.
Great job opportunities
The job market is strong here—with a great work/life balance and equality. The university is good at connecting you with companies and creating a link between students and the business world, and it seems that there are plenty of opportunities to shape your own career.
Having a student job is very important, and I work at a company in Kolding named Alfa Laval. I’ve been welcomed there, and I’m learning a lot of Danish and about Danish culture by working as a student assistant. Even as a student, you have the same opportunities as a full-time employee.
Close to the rest of the world
I would recommend everyone to try learning the language, even though it can seem difficult. It can really open many opportunities and make your stay in Denmark much better. I attended language school and got involved in various clubs and cultural events, which I also recommend to others—it makes student life more enjoyable when you get to know others.
I want to finish my degree and get a job here in Denmark. Kolding is a great city for studying because it’s a good size, and you’re not far from larger cities in Denmark or Billund Airport. I think Kolding is growing well with the increasing number of new students, and it’s an awesome city.
