SDU Sønderborg
Great support from everyone
Hanna Rebeka Vas, 20, Hungary, economics and business administration
I chose Denmark because of the great setup for students, with free education and even financial support from the state to help me live and complete my studies.
As an EU student, it was easy to arrive and get everything sorted, like setting up a bank account, phone number, etc., and there’s great support available from both the state and the university.
Charming city
Sønderborg is incredibly lovely and very calm. You get all the benefits of a big city with entertainment and shopping but without the hectic, stressful parts. The town is beautiful, and I love that everything is within walking or biking distance. The surroundings are stunning, and I love the nature around the town and being only five minutes from the sea.
The campus isn’t very big, but it’s nice to have everything under one roof. I see real advantages in studying at a smaller campus because the professors always have time for you. It’s very easy to have a good social life in Denmark. The university and students do a lot to get people involved, so you always have a chance to build a social circle, no matter your interests.
International community
Sønderborg is essentially a student town because so many young people study here. It’s a very multicultural environment, with students from all kinds of countries. The Danes are very comfortable speaking English, so it’s easy to fit in.
