The vision of the SDU UAS Center is to make European society flourish by advancing UAS technology, through excellence in UAS education, research, and innovation. Based on this vision, the mission of the SDU UAS Center is to develop and demonstrate UAS technology that can contribute to a sustainable society, through excellence in UAS education, research, and innovation.
We are located at SDU Campus in Odense and at the nearby HCA Airport, where we run SDU UAS Test Center with laboratories and test facilities for drones.
The center was established in 2015 as part of SDU’s strategic research focus areas, which implies drones.
Research
Our research focuses on drones and autonomous systems, targeting key societal challenges and enabling future advancements within the field. We are committed to advancing drone technology across various sectors, including nature conservation and biodiversity, precision agriculture, infrastructure inspection, and security.
We are an interdisciplinary team of researches with specializations within e.g. design and construction, robotics, computer vision, software and embedded systems. Together we create drone solutions to the benefit of society.
Education
We offer the MSc in Engineering in Robot Systems with specialization in Drones and Autonomous Systems (DAS) as a specialization within the MSc in Robot Systems program.
Cooperation
We cooperate with the established industry as well as start-up companies in our research projects, student projects, and in the SDU UAS Test Center.
SDU UAS Test Center
The SDU UAS Test Center is an ecosystem for developing and testing drones located in HCA Airport near Odense.
Here, researchers, students, and drone companies have access to our state-of-the-art laboratories and 1900 km2 airspace dedicated to drones. The UAS Test Center collaborates closely with UAS Denmark Test Center.
