In recent years, the program members have been concerned about whether (and if so, how) such ideas can be supported in our age of globalization and transnational migration and when phenomena such as ‘digitization’ and ‘datafication’ are contributing to the emergence of new forms of classifications and categorizations that have potential to reinforce discrimination, inequality and exclusions from certain forms of social communities.

The group members do interdisciplinary theoretical and empirical research and find inspiration in philosophical, sociological, phenomenological, discourse-analytical, and psychoanalytical perspectives as well as in political theory.

We are seeking to strengthen the members research projects by qualifying them scientifically through presentations, critical discussions, and collaborations. At the same time, we are focusing on participation in and development of national as well as international research networks in which common research applications and external projects can be grounded and in which publications and research results can be presented, discussed, and compared within and across national borders.

The senior researchers in the program are obligated to recruit, help and support young researchers. The research in the program is closely connected to a wide range of teaching and supervision activities within the Faculty of Humanities.
