We’re Not Standing Still – Even as OUH Takes its Time
HEALTH has settled in at Campusvej. From our new buildings, we can see the New OUH taking shape – and we can hear the activity on the other side of the fire wall. Although it will be some time before they move in, that doesn't mean we have to wait to start collaborating. So, what’s happening in the meantime?
- There is already a strong collaboration between the Faculty of Health Sciences and OUH, which we aim to strengthen further. We also want to broaden this partnership across the entire university, ensuring that all five faculties are involved, says Anders Christian Frederiksen, head of the strategic collaboration between OUH and SDU.
Even though OUH hasn’t moved into the new buildings yet, the groundwork for collaboration has been in place for quite some time.
At the end of April, the collaboration officially kicked off with a seminar, where representatives from OUH and SDU explored four key healthcare themes and discussed how deeper cooperation between the two institutions could help address these challenges.
Strengthening the collaboration
- The kick-off seminar provided us with valuable insights on how we can move forward. SDU and OUH have been collaborating for many years, and we’re committed to building on those experiences, explains Anders Christian Frederiksen. -We are enhancing our existing collaboration platforms, such as the joint research centres CIMT, CAI-X, and CCR, as well as established partnerships like OPEN and RIO. Additionally, we aim to streamline the dual appointments between SDU and OUH to ensure a smoother process moving forward.
And now for the question on everyone’s mind: When will they tear down the fire wall?
- Well, I’m not really involved in the construction details, so I can’t give a definitive answer, Anders Christian Frederiksen says with a laugh, before adding:
- But we’re excited and preparing in the meantime. There’s plenty to keep us busy.
The latest updates indicate the building should be ready by 2027.
