Caren Kaplan is Professor Emerita of American Studies at the University of California, Davis.
She will receive an honorary doctorate at the Faculty of Humanities at SDU

War Studies.
For the past 15 years, Caren Kaplan has written groundbreaking works on war
and technology from both a current and historical perspective. Most
recently, she published the monograph 'Aerial Aftermaths: Wartime from
Above' - an impressive multidisciplinary study of the cultural history of
aerial imagery.
Over the past five years, Caren Kaplan has visited SDU on several occasions
as a keynote speaker at conferences and as a very active participant in
workshops organised by our research groups and centres. She has also
contributed to several collective publication projects by researchers at
SDU.
