Maxim Kontsevich is Professor of Mathematics at the
Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques. He will be awarded an honorary
doctorate at the Faculty of Science at SDU for his world-class research
within geometric aspects of mathematical physics.
Of Maxim Kontsevich's many awards, one stands out in particular: the 1998
Fields Medal, which is the mathematics equivalent of a Nobel Prize. He is a
member of the French and European Academies and the National Academy of
Sciences.
Maxim Kontsevich has close ties to SDU, where he, among other things, is part of the ERC synergy project ReNewQuantum in the Quantum Mathematics group, which is headed by Professor Jørgen Ellegaard Andersen.
