Diabetic retinopathy and mental health

Diabetic retinopathy and mental health – a clinical and epidemiological approach to investigate risk factors, enhance treatment and explore possible retinal biomarkers

Exploring the intersection of diabetic retinopathy and mental health, our research delves into a crucial juncture of medical science. By unraveling the intricate connection between these two domains, we aim to not only enhance patient care but also contribute to the broader societal well-being. We utilize registry as well as clinical data to investigate the possible bidirectional association between mental health and diabetic retinopathy. By exploring possible retinal biomarkers assessed by non-invasive eye examinations, we aim to be able to identify patients with mental health problems in a faster and more patient-friendly manner.
