Retinal vascular occlusions

Are retinal vascular occlusions linked to dementia?

Through a register-based study based on every Danish citizen older than 65 years from 1998 until 2022. I worked in collaboration with OPEN for data management. We found an interesting link between retinal vascular occlusions and dementia, which could be ascribed to shared risk factors of the diseases. Furthermore, young individuals with a retinal vein occlusion have an independently increased risk of developing dementia.
