Title: ”Institutions of Care: The Role of Early Childhood Investments for Historical Development”.
This research proposal will evaluate how different institutions of care, such as kindergartens and day care nurseries, affected the demographic transition, the integration of immigrant children, and other socioeconomic outcomes, such as crime, and female labor market participation in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
