Videoseminar: Anthony Bale (Birkbeck), "Writing en route in the Middle Ages"
CML videoseminar 22 November 2018 at 2:00-3:30 PM CET. This presentation will consider some examples of portable and transnational textuality, drawing on the research of the Leverhulme Pilgrim Libraries project.
In his paper, Anthony Bale will consider some interesting, if unusual, examples of portable and transnational textuality, drawing on the research undertaken under the aegis of the Leverhulme Pilgrim Libraries project. In this presentation, he will present a small number of detailed examples - including the journeys of Henry of Derby, and the Lewkenor Hours - to consider where and how medieval pilgrims read and wrote.
Professor Anthony Bale is Executive Dean of Arts and Professor of Medieval Studies at Birkbeck, University of London.
